How to identify red iron tree

How to identify red iron tree

1. Blades

The leaves of the red iron tree are clustered at the upper end of the branches or on the stems. They are rectangular to rectangular-lanceolate, about 25-50 cm long and 5-10 cm wide. They are green or slightly purple-red in color. There are grooves on the petioles. They are about 10-30 cm long and will become wider at the base, hugging the stem.

2. Flowers

The red iron tree has a panicle inflorescence, about 30-60 cm long, with large bracts at the base of the side branches. There are 3 bracts on each flower. The color of the flowers is light red or purple to yellow, about 1 cm long. The pedicels are usually very short, and a few can be up to 3-4 mm long. The style is thin and long, and the upper part will bend back or outward when in full bloom. The flowering period is from November to March of the following year.
