The Difference Between Passionfruit and Monk Fruit

1. Difference of blades

The leaves of passion fruit are papery, about 5-7 cm long and 6-8 cm wide, with a heart-shaped base. The middle lobe is ovate-oblong, slightly smaller than the lobes on both sides, entire and glabrous.

The leaves of Luo Han Guo are membranous and wider than the former, about 12-23 cm long and 5-17 cm wide. The base is nearly circular or heart-shaped, and the edges have small teeth because of the small veins extending out. The leaf surface has sparse soft hairs, which will fall off and become hairless after old age.

2. Fruit Difference

The berry of passion fruit is ovoid to nearly round, about 6 cm long, yellow or orange-yellow when ripe, with many seeds, inverted heart-shaped, and about 5 mm long.

The fruit of Luo Han Guo is oblong or spherical, about 6-11 cm long and 4-8 cm in diameter. It is covered with dense yellow-brown hairs and black glandular scales when it is first born, which gradually fall off as it ages, leaving a circle of hairs on the fruit stalk. There are also many seeds, which are broadly ovate or nearly round, about 15-18 mm long and 10-12 mm wide.
