Difference between Oxalis and Oxalis

Difference between Oxalis and Oxalis

1. Differences in plants:

Some of the stems of Oxalis grow upright, while others are tilted on the ground. They look slender and weak. The rhizomes are slightly thick, and the stems can be forked at multiple levels.

Oxalis is a perennial upright herb with no stems above the ground.

2. The difference of leaves:

The leaves of Oxalis are basal or alternate on the stems, the petiole is 1-13 cm long, the leaflets are inverted heart-shaped, and the leaves are covered with soft hairs on both sides or without hairs, but the hairs along the veins are dense.

Since red-flowered Oxalis has no above-ground stems, its leaves are basal and its petioles are relatively long, with a length of 5-30 cm or longer.

3. The difference of flowers:

The sepals below the Oxalis flower are relatively short, 3 to 5 mm long, and the petals are yellow.

The sepals under the flowers of red Oxalis are long, about 4 to 7 mm long, and the petals are light purple or even darker to purple-red.
