Difference Between Fir and Spruce

The trunk of a spruce tree is relatively tall, reaching up to 45 meters. The bark of the trunk is lighter in color, light gray-brown or light brown-gray.

2. The difference of leaves:

The fir tree's needles are wider in shape, 1.5 to 3 cm long and 2 to 2.5 mm wide. The leaves grow diagonally upwards from the branches. The upper part of the leaves is light green, and there are two light white lines on the bottom.

The spruce needles are quadrangular in shape, slightly shorter and narrower than the previous leaves, 1 to 2 cm long and 1 to 1.5 mm wide.

3. Differences in Fruits:

The former has fruits hanging upright on branches and matures in October.

The fruits of the latter hang down on the branches and mature earlier, starting in September.
