How to care for ivy so that it can bloom

Ivy Growing Conditions

Ivy likes light and is relatively shade-tolerant. The growth environment does not require high light, and appropriate scattered light is sufficient. It is suitable for growing in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. The suitable growth temperature is between 20℃-25℃.

How to grow ivy

When cultivating ivy, the potting soil should be a mixture of leaf mold or charcoal soil, river sand and a small amount of bone meal. Apply thin pancake fertilizer every 2 to 3 weeks during the growing season. Water when the soil is dry and do not let the soil in the pot be too wet.

Watering ivy

During the growing season of ivy, you should wait until the soil is dry before watering. In winter, the temperature is low, so you should control watering. When the climate is dry, you can spray water to maintain the air humidity, making the plant look vibrant and the leaves green and shiny.

Fertilizing Ivy

During the growing season of ivy, apply thin pancake fertilizer water once every 2 to 3 weeks. Generally, no fertilizer is applied in summer and winter. When fertilizing, avoid applying nitrogen fertilizer too much. However, be careful to avoid contaminating the leaves when applying liquid fertilizer to avoid causing the leaves to burn.

Ivy Pest and Disease Control

Ivy is prone to anthracnose. During maintenance, attention should be paid to ventilation and light transmission. Do not water the leaves. After the disease occurs, spray carbendazim once every 7 days, and spray continuously for 3 to 4 times.

Leaf spot is a common disease that is harmful to leaves. If disease is found on the leaves, they should be removed in time and burned in a centralized manner. At the same time, wettable powder should be sprayed once every 7 days for 2 to 3 consecutive times.

Ivy family cultivation method

1. When growing ivy at home, you can use ordinary soil cultivation, repot and change the soil once every 1 to 2 years, keep the soil moist, and let it see more sunlight in the morning and evening in spring and autumn, so that the plant will be full of vitality.

2. The maintenance temperature should be controlled at 20℃-25℃. Attention should be paid to ventilation and cooling in summer. The room temperature should be kept above 10℃ in winter, and the minimum temperature should not be lower than 5℃. During the growing season, spray the leaves with potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution 1-2 times to make the leaves look more beautiful.

Ivy maintenance precautions

In winter, ivy needs to be moved indoors in time. It can overwinter at temperatures above 3°C. It should be placed in a well-lit place with good ventilation and reduced watering. During maintenance, pruning should be strengthened to cut off dead branches, weak branches, and diseased and insect-infested branches. Water should be sprayed on the leaves of the plant frequently to prevent the air from drying out and causing the leaf tips to become dry and brown.
