The rhizome of the flat bamboo orchid is 4-7 mm in diameter, yellowish brown in color, with long intervals between nodes, and most of the fibrous roots are branched. The rhizome of iris is relatively thick, with a diameter of 1 cm, yellow-green color, and very thin and short fibrous roots.

2. The difference between stems and leaves

The stem of the flat bamboo orchid stands upright on the ground and is flat and cylindrical. There are about 10 leaves, yellow-green in color, with no obvious longitudinal veins. The stem of the iris is slightly curved, slightly wider in the middle, and extends diagonally to the ground. The leaves are also yellow-green with several inconspicuous longitudinal veins.

3. The difference between petals

The orchid of the flat bamboo orchid is light blue or white, 5-5.5 cm in diameter, the pedicels and bracts are almost the same length, and the perianth tube is 1.5 cm long. The iris is blue-purple in color, about 10 cm in diameter, with a short pedicel and a slender perianth tube of about 3 cm.

4. Differences in Fruits

The fruit of the flat bamboo orchid is oval in shape, with a network of veins and six obvious ribs on the surface. The fruit of iris is oblong or obovate with 6 obvious ribs.
