What to do before and after the azalea blooms

What to do before and after the azalea blooms

1. The flowering period of this plant

Its flowering period can last about a month. Generally, it blooms from late April to late May.

2. Early maintenance

(1) Fertilization: If you want it to bloom on schedule and the flowers to be large and shiny, then fertilization is definitely indispensable. Around March to early April, we need to use some flower fertilizers rich in P elements, with the frequency controlled to once every ten days, for three or four consecutive times. However, when it is flowering, you need to pause, otherwise, it will encourage new shoots to grow, which is not conducive to flowering.

(2) Light: Light also plays a big role in its flowering. In fact, this plant itself is very light-loving, not to mention it is in the flowering period. Except for the midday when the light is particularly strong and requires appropriate shade, you can let it bathe in the warm sunshine as much as possible at other times.

3. Later maintenance

(1) Fertilization: This plant not only needs fertilizer in the early stage, but also needs additional fertilizer in the later stage, because too much nutrients are consumed during the flowering period. In order to ensure vigorous growth in the future, sufficient nutrients must be supplemented. However, the types of fertilizers will be different, and those containing more N should be used after flowering.

(2) Light: After flowering, do not expose the plant to direct sunlight. It is best to place it in a location with scattered light.

(3) Ventilation: After the flowering period, it is also very important to ventilate the plant. Don't forget to do so.
