How to fertilize lilies and what fertilizer to use

1. Fertilization time

Lilies require a lot of fertilizer, so fertilization is important in their maintenance. The first thing is to use some base fertilizer when planting in pots. Furthermore, from the time it sprouts in spring, it is in its growth period and needs appropriate top dressing.

2. Fertilizer Types

The base fertilizer mainly uses some solid fertilizer, such as animal manure and so on. For top dressing, you can use some decomposed organic fertilizer, but not raw fertilizer, you must use decomposed fertilizer.

3. Fertilization method

1. After preparing the base fertilizer and soil, mix them together, fill them into the flowerpot, and then put the plant in. Be careful not to use too much base fertilizer, otherwise the plant will not be able to adapt to the new environment easily and the roots may rot easily. When using top dressing, you can dig out a part of the soil on the edge of the flowerpot, then put in the decomposed organic fertilizer, and then fill it with some soil. Again, the amount should not be too much.

2. Fertilize lilies once every two weeks. If the lily shows obvious signs of malnutrition, it can be watered once a week.

IV. Precautions

Do not apply fertilizer during the dormant period. Dormancy may occur if the temperature is too high or too low. Furthermore, do not apply fertilizer during the flowering period.
