He has been raising a money tree for 10 years, and it has grown thicker than his thigh. How does he raise it?

Money tree maintenance precautions

The money tree is originally a tropical flower. It likes a humid and hot environment. In recent years, our cultivation technology has been continuously improved, and it can be grown in all parts of the country. It should be easy to grow, but why does it always turn yellow after just a few months?

1. Ventilation, ventilation, ventilation

The money tree must be kept in a ventilated environment, otherwise its roots will easily rot. The following is a small money tree bought by a flower lover in our community a few years ago. It has been placed on a windowsill with diffused light, and it has grown well without much care.

2. Don’t water too much

Out of 10 money trees, 9 were killed by being watered. The money tree is very drought-resistant but afraid of waterlogging. Once waterlogged, its roots will rot. Flower lovers who have raised it for a few years must have this experience: wait until the soil is completely dry before watering. Newbies can learn from the flower lover below, who should resist the urge to water his plants less even in summer.

3. Good lighting

The money tree likes light but is afraid of the sun. Its leaves will dry up and turn yellow if exposed to the sun. Therefore, it is best to place it in a place with good indoor lighting, or in an office with sufficient light. Do not place it in a dark corner, as it will easily turn yellow and look lifeless.

Reference for questions about the fortune tree

Huahua knows that even if you read the above content, there are still a lot of problems that you don’t know how to solve. Let’s list some common situations for your reference:

1. The leaves are dry and the air humidity is not enough

The leaves of the money tree tend to turn yellow easily in summer. First, touch the necrotic part with your hand. If it is dry, it means the humidity is not enough. At this time, do not water it. Tear off the leaf tips and spray water around the leaves a few times a week.

2. The leaves are rotten and yellow, and the water is too much

If the tips of the leaves feel wet and there are large areas of yellow or rotten leaves, it means that you have watered too much. Stop watering immediately, pick off all the yellow and rotten leaves, and place the money tree in a ventilated place.

If there are too many yellow or rotten leaves, it means the situation is serious. Pull it out of the soil directly. If the roots are not damaged, place it in a cool and ventilated corridor or north windowsill to dry, and then replant it in the pot after about 1-2 days.

If the roots are already rotten, quickly cut off the rotten part with a knife, leaving nothing behind. It is best to also cut off the branches and leaves above to reduce nutrient consumption, and seal the upper section with a candle to prevent infection.

Soak the remaining roots in potassium permanganate solution or carbendazim solution for disinfection. Soak for about 2 hours, take out and dry in a cool place. After drying, soak it in rooting powder water (can also be omitted). After soaking for 2 hours, take it out and dry it, then replant it in the pot.

Flower lovers who don’t have rooting powder can use willow branches soaked in water instead. It is best to use sandy soil (disinfected with boiling water) when planting in pots later. This will allow the flowers to take root faster. When you see new buds on the branches, it means they have taken root.

3. White spots appear on leaves and they are burned

When we spray water on the money tree, we should not get too close to it. The water droplets will gather on the leaves and be refracted by strong light, which can easily burn the leaves. A small drop of water can burn a large area.

4. The leaves become lighter in color and the soil is not breathable

The money tree was growing well, but suddenly the color of its new leaves became lighter, indicating that the soil in the pot is a bit compacted and not very breathable. At this time, you can either change the soil and the pot, or use chopsticks to poke a few holes along the edge of the pot for ventilation.

5. Exudation of mucus, elongation and lack of light

It has been raining recently, and many flower lovers have reported that there are sticky water droplets on the money trees. This is a normal phenomenon. You can expose them to the sun in the morning and evening and water them less to prevent them from growing too tall.

6. The leaves are getting thinner and lighter in color, indicating a lack of fertilizer

The money tree generally does not require any fertilizer, but if the leaves become thinner and the old leaves become lighter and yellow easily, you should be aware that it may be lacking fertilizer. Water the plants once a month with fermented rice water (diluted 2% with water), or add some chlorophyll.
