Aloe vera cultivation methods and precautions

Aloe vera cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

To grow aloe vera, you need sandy soil with good drainage and high nutrient content. Specifically, you can grow aloe vera by evenly mixing peat soil, leaf mold, fine sand and perlite in a ratio of 4:3:2:1.

2. Lighting

Aloe vera likes light, so it needs to be exposed to more sunlight in spring and autumn to help it grow more healthily. In summer, certain shade measures should be taken to prevent it from being exposed to the scorching sun. In winter, it needs to be placed in a sunny place indoors.

3. Watering

Since aloe vera has a high water content, it does not require too much water. Normally, keep the soil relatively dry, and water it only after it is completely dry. In summer, due to the strong transpiration, you need to water it more to replenish moisture.

4. Temperature

Aloe vera is native to tropical regions. It is afraid of cold but not heat. It usually needs to be kept at a temperature of 15-35℃. When the temperature is lower in winter, it must be kept above 5℃, otherwise it may be difficult to grow.

5. Notes

1. Prevent black spot disease. Black spot is a common disease of aloe vera, which causes black spots to appear on the leaves, affecting the appearance. Therefore, we need to spray it with pesticides in advance before the rainy season to prevent the occurrence of this disease.

2. Fertilizer supply. Aloe vera is not a fertilizer-loving plant. Normally we don't give it too much fertilizer. However, in the summer when the plant grows vigorously, we need to apply additional fertilizer to meet its growth needs.
