When does Christmas cactus bloom?

When does Christmas cactus bloom?

1. Flowering time

Let’s first talk about the general stages. Generally speaking, the flowering period of Christmas cactus is from September to April of the following year. However, its specific flowering period is related to many factors. The first thing is of course the variety. Although they all belong to Christmas cactus, if they are different varieties, the specific time of flowering can be quite different. According to morning and evening, it is mainly divided into three. They are: early-maturing species, middle-maturing species, and late-maturing species.

In addition to the variety, its flowering period is also related to the specific region. Generally speaking, the further south you go, the earlier it blooms; the further north you go, the later it blooms. Also, the climate of the year will affect the flowering period. If there is abnormal climate, it will also affect its specific flowering.

2. Precautions during flowering

(1) The first point is about fertilizer and water. Many friends think that during the flowering period, in order to provide the necessary nutrients and water for flowering, watering and fertilizing will be very frequent. However, this is actually not good. The correct approach is: no fertilizer is required and less water is needed. We can find that water does not mean that it is completely absent. Generally speaking, water can be applied once every half a month.

(2) The second question is about its location. Because the flower buds of this plant have a phototaxis. If you move its position frequently, the flower will also rotate more frequently. Then, overall it is not conducive to their development. Therefore, the location is generally not suitable for moving.

(3) You also need to pay attention to the light. Scattered light is best, but don’t make it too strong.
