The difference between plum blossom and peach blossom

The difference between plum blossom and peach blossom

1. Color

The colors of plum blossoms are more complex, including red, yellow, white, etc., while the colors of peach blossoms are brighter, but the varieties are relatively single, mostly pink, and very rarely light white.

2. Check whether there are leaves when flowering

The characteristic of plum blossoms is that they bloom first and then grow leaves, so the one that presents a sea of flowers without leaves when in bloom must be plum blossoms; while peach blossoms are a combination of flowers and leaves coexisting, so from a distance the one that appears to have flowers and leaves complementing each other is definitely not plum blossoms, but peach blossoms.

3. Judging by the height of the tree

The plum tree is slightly shorter, generally about five or six meters in height, and its trunk is mostly light gray in color; the peach tree is even taller than the plum tree, growing to 6 to 8 meters, and its trunk is mostly rough and mainly gray-brown in color.

4. Judging by flowering time

The blooming time of plum blossoms and peach blossoms is different. Plum blossoms usually bloom in the cold winter and early spring when the temperature is relatively low, which is from the twelfth month to the second month of the lunar calendar; peach blossoms usually bloom in March, which is a relatively warm period. However, the climate in some places varies, so the flowering time may not be particularly accurate.

5. Look at the density of the petals

Although the petals of plum blossoms and peach blossoms look similar, the petals of plum blossoms are denser and thicker than those of peach blossoms, with smaller spaces between the petals and darker colors; while the petals of peach blossoms are sparse and thin.
