Cultivation methods and precautions of fine-leaved Verbena

Cultivation methods and precautions of fine-leaved Verbena

1. Breeding methods

1. Temperature

It is relatively resistant to severe cold and can tolerate temperatures of minus five degrees Celsius in winter. Some varieties can even tolerate minus ten degrees Celsius. Those varieties that grow near the Yangtze River basin can spend the winter in the open air. It grows well at 5 to 25 degrees Celsius, but 16 degrees Celsius is best for it.

2. Lighting

It does not like dark areas and can only grow well with good light. Its branches and leaves will grow very densely and its flowers will be bright and beautiful, so we have to grow it in a place with good light.

3. Watering

When grown, verbena has very strict requirements on water. It must have water but not too much, so it must be strictly controlled. It is relatively drought-resistant when it grows up, but if the temperature is very high in the summer, it must be watered frequently.

If the soil is too dry, the branches and leaves will wither. If there is too much water, the leaves will grow densely, few flowers will grow, the leaves will turn yellow, and even the roots will rot and die. Therefore, during the rainy season, the water in the flower soil must be drained in time.

4. Fertilization

When it is growing, you need to add fertilizer every fifteen days. If it is still a seedling, you should use nitrogen fertilizer so that the leaves can grow lush. If it is about to bloom, add phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, so that the flowering time will be prolonged and the flowers will be very beautiful. After it grows up, you must not use only nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise the nutrients will be absorbed by the leaves and the number of flowers will decrease.

5. Pruning

If the sapling grows to ten to twelve centimeters, it should be topped off so that the branches can grow more. Of course, some varieties can grow many branches and do not need to be pinched. If the branches of the flower are too long, you can cut them shorter so that the overall shape will look good.

2. Precautions

1. If it is placed in a dark and rainy place for a long time, its leaves will be sparse, the number of flowers will be small, and the color of the flowers will be very light and not very beautiful. So it is best to choose an area with good sunlight for planting.

2. If you plant it as a bonsai, you can use a flower pot with a diameter of 15 to 20 centimeters, and each flower pot can plant three to five flowers.
