How to propagate the Bodhi tree

How to propagate the Bodhi tree

1. Seed propagation

1. This method of propagation requires the selection of a healthy mother plant that is more than 10 years old. The fruits of the Bodhi tree will be harvested in November when they turn black and red.

2. Choose a sand bed for sowing. Before sowing, you must first press the entire substrate with a wooden board, and then sprinkle the seeds evenly on it. Be sure not to let the seeds clump together.

3. Then you need to cover it with a thin layer of clean river sand, just enough to cover the seeds. At the same time, shading must be done to reduce water evaporation and keep the soil moist.

4. In about ten days, the seeds will germinate and break through the soil. When half of the seeds have germinated, you must water them every morning and evening.

5. When the seedlings grow to two to four centimeters, they need to be transplanted into nutrient bags for cultivation. At this time, they still need to be watered in the morning and evening. In addition, the roots need to be watered with urea and Norwegian compound fertilizer, and at the same time, a small amount of water should be applied.

6. When the seedlings grow to 15 cm, you need to prevent the occurrence of diseases and insect pests. Take good care of them and wait until the seedlings grow to 30 cm to 50 cm before planting!

2. Cutting propagation

1. The survival rate of Bodhi tree cutting propagation is also quite high. The time to choose is spring or autumn. You should choose a well-developed mother plant of 8 to 15 years old. The branches should also be full and have buds. Cut cuttings with a length of 15 cm for cuttings.

2. When cutting, the row spacing needs to be kept at 5 cm x 10 cm, and the depth needs to be 3 cm. After cutting, a rack needs to be put up and covered with plastic film.

3. After covering with the film, be sure to ensure ventilation and air permeability, and sprinkle water on the film every day to ensure humidity.

4. After cuttings, spray fungicide once a week to prevent the cuttings from rotting in an environment with high temperature and high humidity.

5. It will take about 10 days for the roots to take root, and you can plant it after a while. Note that you must bring the soil with you when transplanting to increase the survival rate.

It turns out that propagating the Bodhi tree isn’t that difficult, right? Have you all learned it?
