The difference between purple bamboo plum and violet

1. Different disciplines

Purple bamboo plum is sometimes also called purple communis, which is a perennial plant in the Commelinaceae family. But those who know about violets know that it is also called grass osmanthus and grass violet. It seems that it has many names. It belongs to the genus Viola, which is a perennial plant. At first glance, not only the alias is different, but the family it belongs to is also completely different. It can be seen that they are completely different plants.

2. Different leaves

Purple Bamboo Plum: Its leaves are usually alternate, lanceolate in shape, 6 to 13 cm long, 6 to 10 mm wide. The front end of the leaf looks relatively pointed, and the base is sheathed. There are many long white eyelashes at the sheath mouth. The upper half is dark green, the edges are green-purple, and the lower half is purple-red.

Violet: Its leaves are oblong to oblanceolate or spoon-shaped, with a petiole length of 6 to 14 cm and a width of 1.2 to 2.5 cm. The top appears blunt or pointed. The color of the leaves is green. By comparing them in this way, you can see that there is a big difference between their leaves.

3. The flowers are different

Purple Bamboo Plum: Its flowers are usually densely grown together, each with 3 petals, generally blue-purple in color, and approximately broad oval in shape.

Violet: It has a large number of flowers and relatively large petals. The colors are usually purple, light red or white. The flower colors are varied and its shape is approximately oval.

4. Different seeds

Purple Bamboo Plum: Its capsule is oval in shape with three raised ridges on it. There are also many seeds inside the capsule, which are semicircular in shape and brown in color.

Violet: Its seeds are nearly round in shape, about 2 mm in diameter, look relatively flat, are dark brown in color, and have white membranous wings on the edges of the seeds. So there is a big difference between the seeds of the two.
