Cultivation methods and precautions of flower peony

Cultivation methods and precautions of flower peony

1. Soil

When caring for the plant, use loose, fertile, and well-drained soil. You can mix it with coarse sand, garden soil, and an appropriate amount of leaf mold.

2. Lighting

It prefers light and should be placed in a place with good sunlight. It is best to plant it in the southeast. The flowers will bloom more beautifully with sufficient light, but they must be shaded in summer and not exposed to strong light, otherwise the flowers and leaves will be easily burned.

3. Watering

It is drought-resistant and does not require frequent watering. A thorough watering can usually last for about 10 days, so the moisture is sufficient. However, you need to control water in winter and only add water in an appropriate amount after the soil is completely dry to avoid frostbite on the plants due to low temperatures.

4. Fertilization

During the maintenance period, fertilizer should be applied about three times a year, and once when the flowers bloom. Only with sufficient nutrients can the flowers bloom smoothly. Replenish nutrients once the flowers fall. Then apply it once before winter to improve cold resistance. In addition, please note that if the plant is newly planted, do not apply fertilizer within half a year.

5. Notes

During management, the soil should be loosened frequently to improve drainage and avoid clogging. At the same time, attention should be paid to promptly removing the surrounding weeds to prevent them from competing with the plants for nutrients. In addition, you should also pay attention to diseases, especially between May and August, when the probability of disease is higher. When discovered, you should spray pesticides for prevention and control.
