How to grow succulent plants

Habits and characteristics

The first is its temperature requirement. As we mentioned above, its original planting area is in Africa, which is a tropical region. For this reason, it prefers a relatively warm environment. Although it has a certain degree of cold resistance, if the temperature drops to ten degrees Celsius or below, its growth will basically stagnate, and too low a temperature will cause cells containing a lot of water to die due to frost. So, at this point we understand that we need special care in winter.

Next is water. It does not require a lot of water and has a certain degree of drought resistance, but it will not work if it is not watered for a long time, as its leaves will shrink. But one thing we need to note is that it is particularly afraid of waterlogging, so we should avoid waterlogging in the soil.

Then there is ventilation, which is very necessary.

Specific methods

Temperature: This has been mentioned above, and I would like to add here that the most suitable temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees. Let’s mainly talk about winter treatment. Of course, the first thing to do is to put it indoors for maintenance. Although it is not easy to maintain the temperature within a suitable range, it must at least be above 12 degrees so that it can safely overwinter. If the temperature cannot be guaranteed, other insulation measures need to be taken, such as covering film.

Water: We need to handle this factor scientifically. We cannot not water the plants, nor can we allow too much water to accumulate in the soil. To achieve this goal, we usually choose to wait until the soil is dry before watering. In addition, the container also requires good drainage.

Ventilation: Ventilation is necessary, especially in the hot or humid seasons of summer.
