Growth habits of wild rice

Wild rice is a common aquatic plant. It is not adapted to high or low temperatures, and does not require much sunshine, but it has high requirements for water and fertilizer. Because wild rice has a well-developed root system, it needs sufficient water and loose, fertile, sticky organic soil.

Where does wild rice grow?

Water bamboo is native to my country and Southeast Asia. Currently, only China and Vietnam cultivate water bamboo as a vegetable. Among them, my country was the first to cultivate it and has the largest planting area.

Water chestnuts are mainly distributed in the north and south of my country, and are mainly planted in the lakes of the Yangtze River region. Water chestnuts like to grow in areas near freshwater lakes.

The growing environment and conditions of wild rice

Reasonable light: Zizania latifolia likes to grow in an environment with plenty of sunlight. The light should be dispersed and the temperature should be controlled at around 10-25°C. The minimum temperature during the germination period cannot be lower than 5 degrees. The cultivation of Zizania latifolia is divided into two planting methods: single season and double season. Their requirements for light are different, so the light should be adjusted according to the actual situation.

In addition,茭白 only needs a small amount of water for irrigation in the early stage of growth, and no fertilizer is needed. But in the mature growth period, it needs to be watered once every 7 to 9 days, and nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers, or decomposed manure or cake fertilizer should be applied as little as possible. In this way, almost no fertilizer is needed in the later stage of growth.
