Why are the peach leaves turning yellow?

Causes and prevention of yellowing of peach leaves

There are many reasons for the yellowing of peach leaves, and the problem of yellowing leaves can be solved as long as the right reason is found.

Insufficient ventilation and light transmission

During the growth period, peach blossoms need a lot of nutrients to promote the growth of various parts of the plant. If they are grown indoors without paying attention to ventilation, or if they are not placed in a well-lit place, the plants will have difficulty breathing and will be unable to photosynthesize. The first thing that happens is that the leaves will turn yellow.

Yellowing prevention

Be sure to place the peach blossoms in a ventilated and well-lit place, but be careful not to let the wind blow directly on them. You can move them slightly to ensure that they can get sunlight.

Improper fertilization

First of all, we need to know that peach needs nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other substances, which must be configured and used in a certain proportion. If too much or too little fertilization is applied, it will cause the peach leaves to grow poorly and turn yellow.

Prevention

To carry out effective prevention and control, the required nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ratios should be configured according to 1:0.5:1 for fertilizer application, and attention should be paid to the control of fertilizer amount and frequency.

The emergence of pests and diseases

The most common diseases and pests of peach blossoms are peach bacterial perforation disease and peach scab disease.

Peach bacterial puncture

It is caused by bacteria, and the main damaged part is the leaves. This disease will cause a yellow water-like halo to appear around the leaves. Gradually the yellow area will expand, and the leaves will turn yellow more seriously.

Peach scab

This disease attacks new shoots and leaves, causing the leaves to appear oblong light brown, which then gradually turn yellow, eventually causing the entire leaf to turn yellow and dry up.

Pest control

The most direct prevention and control method is chemical control: for peach bacterial puncture disease, you can spray 4-5 degrees of lime sulfur mixture or 1:1:100 times Bordeaux mixture before germination.

Peach scab can be treated with 80% sodium pentachlorophenol 200 times plus 3-5 degrees Baume lime sulfur mixture and sprayed before budding.
