How to cultivate iron jasmine

How to cultivate iron jasmine

1. Proper lighting

Jasmine loves sunlight very much. When the temperature is very high in summer, it grows most vigorously and needs more sunlight at this time. If there is not enough light, its leaves will become large and thin, and the color of the leaves will turn light green, and the fragrance of the flowers will be very poor.

2. Fertilization

Jasmine is very fond of fertilizer, especially during the flowering period, it needs a lot of fertilizer, so we need to fertilize it in large quantities at this time. You can fertilize once every 4 days, but you should stop fertilizing in mid-September. This will make its branches more mature and help it get through the winter more smoothly.

3. Selection of soil for potted cultivation

Jasmine can also be grown in potted plants, and you must have enough patience to do so. Jasmine has very high requirements for the soil, which must contain a lot of minerals. When planting it, the air permeability of the soil must be guaranteed. One month after planting it, you can fill the soil to consolidate it.

4. Pest control

Generally speaking, iron jasmine is more susceptible to damage from some red spiders and moths, so appropriate insect control operations must be carried out. Remember not to use pesticides to kill insects, because the roots of the plants will be easily destroyed by pesticides.

5. Proper breeding

The most suitable time for propagation of iron jasmine is by cuttings from April to June each year. This season is when it grows most vigorously, so it is more suitable. Then we can choose one from its various branches and twigs and cut it off, preferably one with two nodes on it. After cutting off its branches, you can remove the leaves below to ensure that the branches can fully absorb nutrients and accelerate growth. Because the iron jasmine is relatively afraid of cold, it is best to cover it with plastic after the cuttings are completed to better maintain the temperature. It will be able to grow normally in about 40 days.
