How to propagate small potted roses (branch cutting planting method)

How to propagate small potted roses (branch cutting planting method)

1. Seed propagation

1. Time: Small roses are usually sown in spring, specifically between late March and mid-April, when the temperature is just right and conducive to rooting and germination.

2. Sowing: Before sowing, moisten the soil first, then sprinkle the seeds and cover them with a thin layer of soil, about one centimeter thick. Too thick a layer will be detrimental to germination. If you are sowing in summer, place the potting soil in an air-conditioned room and keep the temperature at around 20 degrees. If it is a high temperature environment, it will affect germination.

3. Maintenance: There is no need to water frequently after planting. The soil just needs to be moist. There must be no stagnant water. Do not apply fertilizer. Seedlings will emerge in about half a month.

2. Branch cutting method

1. Branches: Choose healthy and disease-free branches. It is best to cut them lower to facilitate growth. Then remove all the leaves on top to reduce water loss.

2. Cutting: Prepare several potatoes according to the number of branches, and then insert the branches into the potatoes. Insert them deep enough so that the branches do not shake. Then bury them in the soil along with the potatoes, compact the soil and expose the branches.

3. Maintenance: Water after planting to keep the soil moist, then place it in a well-ventilated place for maintenance. Leaf buds will grow in about 40 days.
