The difference between snow peas and peas

The difference between snow peas and peas

1. Differences in varieties

Peas are actually a relatively large species, and the peas we usually refer to are actually one of them, called sweet peas. They usually eat beans as the main food and rarely eat pods. In addition, the pea heads in the pea category are the young shoots on the plant and are eaten as a vegetable. There is also a type of bean pod, the beans are smaller and not full enough, so the pod part is often eaten.

Snow peas are also a variety of the pea genus, and can be said to belong to the category of broad bean pods.

2. Differences in appearance

The pods of snow peas are relatively soft and tender, so they have a refreshing and crispy taste. The skin of pea pods contains a large amount of cellulose, which is difficult to chew and swallow, so pea pods are generally not eaten. Even after the snow peas are mature, their pods are still relatively flat and wide, and the beans are small, taking up only a very small space in the pods. When peas mature, the beans become larger and almost fill the entire pod, giving them a cylindrical shape. It is also because of its plump beans that it is often used in the production of peas.
