Cultivation methods and precautions of Rhododendron adenophorum

Cultivation methods and precautions of Rhododendron adenophorum

1. Environment

Rhododendron adenocarpa grows best in a cool and humid environment. The suitable temperature for growth is between 12 and 25 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is too high or even exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, the azalea will go into summer dormancy. Therefore, it is important to protect the azalea from the sun when the temperature is too high in summer.

2. Soil

Rhododendron adenocarpa prefers fertile, loose, air-permeable and well-drained acidic soil. If you need to plant in the north, because the soil in the north is more alkaline, you need to add humus soil containing pine needles to the soil and mix it together. You can also cut watermelon or tomatoes into small pieces and put them into the soil, which is very effective in improving the quality of flowers and soil. It should be noted that single clay and alkaline soil cannot be used.

3. Flowering period

The flowering period of Rhododendron adenocarpa can be controlled by yourself. If you want Rhododendron adenocarpa to bloom early, you can move it to a greenhouse for cultivation. The temperature should be controlled between 20-25°C, and the branches and leaves of the azalea should be sprayed with water frequently. It will bloom in about 45 days. If you want to delay the flowering time of Rhododendron adenocarpa, place the Rhododendron adenocarpa that has already formed flower buds in a low-temperature environment, the temperature should be maintained at 2-4°C, and place it outdoors in summer and autumn, and it will bloom in 2 weeks.

4. Watering

It is best to use rainwater or river water to water Rhododendron adenium. If you use tap water from the pipe, you should pour the water into a container and leave it for about 2 days to allow the chlorine in the water to dissipate. When the plant is growing vigorously, water it once every 7-10 days. Adding a little ferrous sulfate to the water can ensure the acidity of the soil.

When growing Rhododendron adenophorum, it should be noted that there is no need to change the pot and turn the soil every year. It is sufficient to change it once every 2-3 years. Since the roots of Rhododendron adenocarpa are relatively thin, this can reduce damage to the roots.

You should also pay attention to preventing diseases and pests of azalea, such as red spider mites, aphids and other pests. You can use pyrethroids and other pesticides to spray them, which is more effective. If the insects are not dead after three days of spraying, you need to spray them again.
