Differences between bamboo palm and palm tree

Differences between bamboo palm and palm tree

1. Different varieties

Bamboo is a type of bamboo, a clumping shrub, generally divided into broad-leaf and narrow-leaf varieties. It belongs to the Arecaceae family and the Bamboo genus. It is now mostly used as an evergreen ornamental plant and is native to China. Its plant type is relatively short, much smaller than the latter, with a plant height of about 2-10 meters and a stem diameter of about 1.5-3 centimeters.

Palm tree is another name for palm tree, which is an evergreen tree with a very tall plant shape. It belongs to the family Palmaceae and the genus Palm and is now widely planted. It is somewhat similar to the former, but has significant differences in essence.

2. Different leaves

The leaves of the brown bamboo are relatively small and have divisions, but the number of divisions is not large, only about 4 to 10 pieces.

The leaves of palm trees are relatively large and grow on the trunk. The leaves are also quite divided, about 30-50 pieces. From a distance, the leaves appear to be somewhat round.

3. Different flowers

The bamboo palm has both female and male flowers. Its flowers are relatively small, with the female flowers being short and thick. The male flowers are ovate-oblong before blooming, and become stick-shaped and oblong after blooming.

The flowers of the palm tree are relatively large. The female flowers are light green and spherical, while the male flowers are yellow-green and ovoid.
