This is how to grow the "aphrodisiac" lily (foxtail lily) in "Legend of Zhen Huan"!

1. Soil

Foxtail lilies prefer moist soil, well-fertilized, sandy soil with excellent drainage. The soil must be of a certain thickness and hard clay should not be used.

2. Optimal growth temperature

Foxtail lilies grow best between 16 and 24 degrees. If the temperature is above 30 degrees or below 5 degrees, the foxtail lily will stop growing, and will resume growing if the temperature is above 10 degrees. If the temperature remains below 5 degrees at night in winter for no more than a week, it will seriously affect the development of flower buds, and in severe cases will prevent normal flowering.

3. Ensure adequate water intake

During the growth period of foxtail lily, you need to increase the amount of watering, about once every three days. When watering, you must be careful not to allow water accumulation. If the air is relatively dry, you can use spraying water to maintain the humidity of the air. This is conducive to the healthy growth of plants and the bright colors of the flowers.

4. Appropriate light intensity

Foxtail lily prefers a cool and humid environment, and can be simply shaded when there is plenty of sunlight.

5. Suitable time for planting

The best time for potting is from September to October.

6. Pest and disease control

Mosaic disease, spot disease, bulb rot, leaf blight, etc. are common diseases of foxtail lily. They can be sprayed with medicine. If the disease is found in the early stage, the affected part can be removed and burned. If you want to save seeds, be sure to choose healthy bulbs that are free of pests and diseases.

Aphids and leafhoppers are common pests of foxtail lilies and can be sprayed with pesticides.
