Jasmine

Jasmine is the main flower in summer, but if you don’t master the correct pruning method, not only will there be few flowers, but the quality of the flowers will also be poor.
If pruned properly, having a dozen flower buds on one branch is not a problem!
1
Cut off the thin and leggy branches. Jasmine needs the higher the temperature, the better it will bloom. Therefore, before entering the high temperature period of summer, you need to cut off half of the longer and thinner branches at the top of the jasmine. See the figure below for specific trimming locations.

2
It is very important to prune jasmine after it blooms. Generally speaking, the branches that will bloom are new branches, which are relatively long and thin. If they are not pruned in time, the branches will become longer and thinner, and the flowers will become fewer and fewer.
Before pruning (you can see many buds that have already opened)

After pruning (longer branches and dead flowers have all been cut off)

Note: Don’t throw away the cut branches casually. This kind of branches that have bloomed are easy to survive by cuttings. You can use them as cuttings and give them to friends and colleagues.
Prune 1 month after flowering (new branches have sprouted and have flower buds, and are about to bloom again)

Rose

Roses need pruning more in summer ~ Especially some varieties of roses whose flowers are so ugly in summer, it is better to prune them to accumulate nutrients so that they can bloom in autumn!
1
If you pinch off the flower buds, the summer flowers of roses will generally look ugly. In addition to the poor visual effect, flowering now is also a waste of nutrients. Therefore, it is best to pinch off the flower buds in summer so that the roses can accumulate strength and bloom in autumn!
For example, as shown in the picture below, just cut off the flower bud directly, the position is shown by the red line.

2
Cutting off the withered flowers and leaving them on the rose bush is a waste of nutrients. Therefore, for roses with many flowers, you can check them every once in a while and cut off those that have already withered.
Generally, the withered flowers should be cut from under the second leaf from the top. See the picture below for the specific position.

Gardenia

Gardenia pruning is a big deal. If you do it well, the gardenia will not only grow strong, but also bloom more.
1
Cut off branches that are too dense and overlapping. For example, in the picture below, the branches are not only too dense, but also overlapping and parallel. Therefore, the thinner one between the two branches should be cut off.

2
Remove the small buds around the flower buds. The small buds around the flower buds will divide the nutrients that belong to the flower buds. Therefore, after the flower buds appear on the gardenia, check whether there are small buds around the flower buds. If so, pick them off.

Clematis

Flower Growing Encyclopedia Yes, vines like Clematis also need to be pruned, especially those early-flowering types. If they are not pruned, after a few years, the place where their roots connect to the soil will become bare.
Therefore, be sure to trim the branches in time after flowering to avoid the bottom becoming bald. Pruning is usually done in mid-July.
1
Cut off one very old branch. In fact, the root absorption capacity and the ability to sprout new branches of those very old branches have gradually deteriorated. Therefore, you should cut off 1 to 2 branches appropriately to promote more new branches to sprout at the bottom.
For example, among the branches in the picture below, you can choose to cut off one of them. It is generally not recommended to cut off all of them in summer.

2
The branches of the current year can be cut in half. Because the evaporation is high in summer, it is not suitable to heavily prune Clematis. However, because Clematis blooms at the top, shortening the branches appropriately can promote the germination of side branches.
For example, in the picture below, the new branches grown that year are cut short in half. Note that they must be new branches grown that year!

camellia

After a spring of growth, the branches of camellia begin to become dense, so we need to trim some redundant branches, one is to reduce losses, and the other is to adjust the plant shape.
1
Cut off the parallel branches. If the parallel branches are not cut off in time, it will not only affect the plant shape, but also divert nutrients.
For example, among the three branches in the picture below, A, B and C are relatively close, so A should be removed, and B and C are parallel branches, so C should also be removed.

2
Cut off the branches that are completely necrotic or have partially necrotic terminal buds. Some branches that have dried up and no longer grow new leaves can be removed directly. For example, branch B in the picture below no longer grows new leaves and can be cut off directly.

3
Cut off the overly dense branches on the top. Only some camellia plants that grow very vigorously will have this problem. If the branches on the top are too dense, not only will the ventilation be poor, but they will also block the light, which is not conducive to the growth of the camellia branches.
For example, in the picture below, the distance between branches is very small, and some branches are crisscrossed, which is not conducive to growth. The branches that need to be pruned have been marked in the picture below~
Before pruning (here we mainly cut off the parallel branches and the crossing branches below)

After trimming (does it look instantly fresher?)

4
Cut off the thin and weak branches at the bottom. Sometimes, due to vigorous growth, some new branches will emerge from the bottom of the camellia. These thin branches at the bottom are called branch branches and they must also be removed. Otherwise, not only will they destroy the plant shape, but they will also consume nutrients.
