Flowering rules of jasmine

The flowering period of jasmine is relatively long. In April and May, it is its initial flowering period. At this time, the number of flowers is not large, usually a small amount of scattered flowers.

June to August is its peak flowering period, when the flowers bloom luxuriantly and there are many branches. After the peak flowering period, after pruning, flower branches can grow and bloom again.

September to October is the last flowering period of jasmine. The flowering at this time is similar to that in April and May, but with fewer flowers.

Jasmine blooms in full bloom

During the peak flowering period of jasmine, there are generally two different rules.

The first is that the flowers are concentrated when they bloom, showing a large number of flower buds, and then a large number of flower buds will grow, and these flower buds will bloom in a concentrated manner. After some pruning after the flowers bloom, new buds will grow. After the flowers fade, prune again, and new buds will grow and bloom again. In this way, the jasmine can bloom repeatedly several times throughout its flowering period.

The second type is that the flowering period lasts longer, but the number of flowers is obviously small, only a small number of flowers bloom, and the growth conditions of the branches are different at this time. The obvious benefit is that the flowering period can last a long time.

Jasmine pruning during flowering period

Because the flowering patterns during the flowering period are different, the pruning methods are also different.

If the flowers bloom in large quantities, you can trim the branches and dead flowers after they bloom. If the flowers are not concentrated when blooming, you can cut off one branch after another when pruning.
