Centipede is an arthropod , also known as centipede, which is a commonly used medicinal material with high medicinal value. With the development of traditional Chinese medicine, the market demand for centipedes is increasing year by year, and the breeding prospects are very promising. So what is the breeding technology of centipedes? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Site selection The centipede breeding site should be located in a ventilated, dry, sunny place, avoiding direct sunlight and rain. It can be built indoors or outdoors. The pool structure can be made of bricks or stones, etc., and the surface is plastered with cement. The pool height is generally 80 cm. The area size is optional, but it is generally recommended to be 5-10 square meters. 2. Stocking density When breeding centipedes, you must pay attention to the stocking density. If the stocking density is too high, they will bite each other and kill each other. Generally, the stocking density can be controlled between 200-300 centipedes per square meter, and the stocking density should be continuously reduced as the centipedes grow. 3. Feeding Centipedes are generally fed every 2-3 days, once a day during the active period, and do not need to be fed or watered during the hatching period. Feeding time is between 16:30-18:00 every day, and leftover food must be picked out the next morning after feeding. The feed formula can be used as a reference: 70% minced meat of various fish, poultry, livestock, and frogs, 20% fish meal or silkworm pupa meal, and 10% vegetable fragments. 4. Supply drinking water In addition to eating enough food, centipedes also need drinking water. Generally, a circle of ditch can be built around the centipede activity area, and sufficient clean water can be stored in the ditch. The water should be changed every 3-5 days, and the ditch should be cleaned while changing the water. You can also use a water tray, but it is best to embed the water tray in the ground, with the top level with the surface of the activity area, and it should be easy to move, and there should be several water trays. 5. Temperature and humidity management Centipedes have high requirements for temperature and humidity. Normally, the temperature should be maintained between 25°C and 30°C, and the humidity should be maintained between 70% and 80%. 6. Maintain good hygiene Remove moldy food regularly and keep the breeding area clean. After cleaning, spray and disinfect with 0.02%-0.04% formalin to inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. 7. Breeding tips Centipedes are ovoviviparous animals. Females lay 10-20 eggs, and the incubation period is about 30-60 days. It is recommended that when the new rainy season arrives, the amount of feed and the frequency of feeding should be increased to promote their reproduction. If you find female centipedes that have mated or are about to give birth, you should catch them in time and keep them in a single room. In general, centipede breeding is a very popular special breeding project in recent years, but friends who want to enter the industry must learn the relevant breeding techniques well. In addition, centipedes are somewhat poisonous, so it is recommended to take personal protective measures during the breeding process to avoid being bitten by them.
