How to grow ginseng ficus in winter

How to grow ginseng ficus in winter

1. Soil

It has very strong vitality and can grow very healthily no matter where it is or what kind of soil it grows in. It can also cling to stones. If you keep it indoors, it is best to use river sand to maintain it. If you want its roots to grow strong, you can add fertilizer, preferably one with a relatively high phosphorus and potassium content.

2. Temperature

It prefers a bright, warm and watery atmosphere, preferably a temperature of 18-33 degrees. If it is a severe winter, it cannot be lower than 10 degrees. If it is lower than 6 degrees, it will only fall leaves if the situation is mild, but it will easily suffer frost damage if the situation is severe.

3. Watering

The pot can be slightly moist, but there should be no accumulation of water. Control the frequency of watering and only water after the soil is dry. You can reduce the frequency of watering in winter, but you cannot wait until the weather is very dry before watering, otherwise the plant will dry out and die.

4. Fertilization

It doesn't like fertilizer. In severe winter, you can give it a small dose of compound fertilizer, preferably one containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. It only takes 3 or 4 applications of fertilizer a year, otherwise its leaves will grow wildly.

5. Pruning

You can also properly trim its branches and leaves before winter so that it can grow fuller. If you change the pot for it in winter, don't water it too much. Wait until the temperature is above 20 degrees. It is not very resistant to severe cold, so it is best to place it in a heated room in winter. If the home is relatively dry, you can water it more and sprinkle water on the leaves.
