What are the varieties of Pteris fern?

White Jade Fern

The white jade pteris is a cultivated variety of the large-leaf pteris. Its rhizome is small and grows in a creeping manner. The plant height is between 40-70cm. It has clustered pinnate leaves, which are green with a long white spot in the center, and has a high ornamental value.

Pteris argentea

Silver-veined fern, also known as arrow-leaved fern, is a cultivated variety. The plant height is between 15-30cm, with pinnate leaves, green leaves and silvery-white veins. The plant of the Haze Fern is relatively short and can withstand high temperatures, shade, drought and moisture. It can be cultivated indoors for a long time and is relatively common.

Pteris sinensis

The southwestern pteris fern is also called the three-forked pteris fern. The plant is tall, reaching 1.5 meters. The rhizome is woody, short and thick. The leaves are clustered and pinnate.

Pteris obliquus

The oblique-feathered fern has a plant height between 50 and 80 cm, an upright stem, brown scales at the base of the petiole, and pinnate leaves with obvious oblique veins.

Pteris tricolor

The tricolor fern has pinnate leaves with wide white or rose-colored bands on both sides.

Longleaf spatholobus

Long-leafed stretch grass, also known as centipede grass, is a common variety of the same genus. The plant height is between 30cm and 150cm, with short and upright stems covered with fluffy yellow-brown scales. The leaves are clustered, oblong-oblong, dark brown, and have hard petioles. Longleaf spatholobi is relatively drought-resistant, alkali-resistant, and barren-resistant. It requires little management and can be used as an indoor potted plant for viewing or as cut leaf material.

There are many varieties of Pteris ferns, and many of the more famous varieties are distributed in different regions, but most of them are concentrated in China, Japan and East Asia.
