Soil requirementsLei Tong is not very demanding on the soil, and peat soil plus coarse sand to keep it permeable will do. Lighting requirementsThe growing period of the plant is from September of each year to June of the following year (the growing period may vary depending on the environment of the flower lover). If there is insufficient light, the plant will easily grow tall, the distance between the leaves will become longer, making the plant shape looser, the stems will become very fragile and tender, the leaves will also become elongated, and the color will become light green. Plants grown in places with sufficient sunlight are relatively short and strong, and the leaves are arranged relatively compactly, so the Lei Tong grows not too slowly. Watering methodDuring the growing period of Leitong, the soil needs to be kept slightly moist to avoid waterlogging. There is basically no water supply throughout the winter, and the water supply will gradually start to be cut off when the temperature drops below 5 degrees. When the temperature exceeds 35℃ in summer, the growth of the entire plant basically stagnates. At this time, watering should be reduced to prevent root rot caused by excessive moisture in the potting soil. It is worth mentioning that in summer, water is not cut off throughout the season. Only a small amount of water is given, otherwise the old leaves will easily dry up. Watering is only done on the edge of the pot, about 2-4 times a month, around 7-9 pm. At this time, the sun has set and will not affect the roots of the plants. Repotting methodWhen cultivating Lei Tong, it is necessary to avoid long-term rain to prevent root damage and branch yellowing and rot. Because the Lei Tong grows relatively fast, it is enough to repot it once every 1 to 2 years. Repot it before the first watering in early spring. Reproduction methodThe plant of Lei Tong is not too big, but it has branches. It can be propagated by beheading, cuttings and division. Branch cuttings are very simple. Just take down the healthy old branches, dry them, and then cut them into slightly moist sandy soil. It will basically grow roots if kept in a cool and ventilated place for more than 20 days. Do not water frequently during cuttings, otherwise the stems will easily rot. Cuttings should be chosen in spring and autumn. |
