Cultivation methods and precautions of star flower

How to grow star flower

Watering

Star flower does not like an overly humid environment, so do not overwater it and keep the soil in the pot dry.

During the growth period of star flower, if the relative humidity of the air is low, the chance of star flower getting sick will be greatly reduced.

illumination

Star flower prefers an environment with sufficient sunlight. Strong light can improve the growth of star flower and make the branches more dense, so the potted plant should be placed in direct sunlight, ensuring at least 5 hours of light a day.

temperature

During the growing period, the night temperature should be kept above 17℃-18℃ and the day temperature should be kept above 22℃-24℃. If the temperature is lower than 10℃, the flowering will be uneven and the opening of flowers will be delayed or prevented.

Fertilization

When fertilizing starflowers, apply 800-1000 times aqueous solution of "chlorophyllin" once every 7-10 days to promote leaf expansion. After the middle growth period, apply 800-1000 times aqueous solution of "flowering essence" with a 15-30-15 (N:P:K) formula once every 7-10 days to promote flower bud differentiation and growth.

Precautions for growing star flowers

Increase light in winter

Because the star flower is a plant that likes strong light, you should pay more attention to supplementing light in winter and place the star flower on the balcony or windowsill for maintenance.

Pruning during the growing season

During the growing season, pay attention to pruning the branches of the star flower to make the crown of the plant symmetrical.

Use loose soil for cultivation

When cultivating star flowers, a loose, well-drained and breathable substrate should be used, with a clay content of 10% to 20%. Coconut fiber, perlite and other substances can be added appropriately.

Water with warm water

The leaves of star flower are sensitive to cold water, so it is best to use warm water when watering, about 18℃.

Control water during dormancy

In autumn and winter, after the star flower blooms, it will enter a dormant period. At this time, the amount of watering should be controlled to keep the soil slightly moist.
