How to cultivate pennywort

How to cultivate pennywort

soil

The plant prefers loose, well-drained sandy soil. It is recommended not to choose soils that are too loose. They are not easy to store nutrients during watering, which can easily cause the soil fertility to decline and affect plant growth.

Sunlight

The leaves of the plant will be thick only in an environment with sufficient light, showing its succulent nature. Otherwise, the leaves will become thin. The pennywort needs to be kept in the sun all year round.

temperature

The pennywort likes warmth and shade, but is afraid of cold. It needs to be moved indoors for maintenance in winter, and the temperature should be controlled at 5℃-10℃ so that it can safely overwinter. It is not resistant to water and humidity and the living environment should be relatively dry.

Watering

The catnip is not tolerant to moisture, and excessive moisture can cause root rot and death. Reduce or stop watering on cloudy days. After summer, be sure to water less, and control watering even more in winter. Normally, water the plant only when the leaves wilt, otherwise it will grow too tall.

prune

Pogostemon cablin is very easy to branch and grows horizontally, so when planting, widen the row spacing appropriately to allow the branches and leaves to stretch as much as possible. Properly pruning old branches during growth can promote branching and healthy growth.

Fertilization

The catnip does not require too much fertilizer to grow. Simply put, it is not tolerant to fertilizer and should be fertilized once a month during the growing season. Use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers as the main fertilizers and less nitrogen fertilizers.
