How to grow strawberries in pots

Soil selection

When planting strawberries in pots, it is advisable to choose varieties that produce long fruits. Potting soil can be made by mixing humus soil with half garden soil, or it can be made by mixing garden soil, humus organic fertilizer and river sand. It can be planted in spring and autumn, but the survival rate is higher in autumn.

Strawberry planting

Before planting, soak the flower pot in water until it is thoroughly wet, place broken tiles or stones on the bottom of the pot, and then fill it with potting soil. When planting, choose healthy seedlings, 3-4 plants per pot, and do not expose the roots below the plant depth. After planting, water thoroughly and ensure that the roots are firmly integrated with the soil. After 3-5 days, move it to a place with sufficient light.

Maintenance and management after planting

After planting strawberries, they should be placed in a ventilated and sunny place, and the soil in the pot should be kept moist at all times. For potted strawberries, old leaves, broken leaves, diseased leaves and excess runners should be removed regularly to reduce nutrient consumption and improve fruit quality. After two years of potting, you can change the pot after the fruit is produced. When repotting, take it out of the pot, cut off the old roots, and then put it in new potting soil.
