How to cultivate white butterfly in pot

White butterfly soil

The soil for white butterfly should be fertile, loose, and well-drained sandy loam. It is best to choose potting soil made from a mixture of our common leaf mold, fill soil and coarse sand.

White butterfly watering

White butterflies like a humid environment, so they are afraid of dryness. During the summer growth period of the white butterfly, it is necessary to add sufficient water to keep the soil in the pot moist to facilitate the rapid growth and development of the stems and leaves.

Spray water around the leaves every day to keep the surrounding air humidity high. The leaves will grow strong and have a good ornamental effect. If there is insufficient water or the plant is hit by drought, the leaves will become rough and smaller.

White Butterfly Light

White butterflies can quickly adapt to their growth environment, grow healthily, and are more adaptable to different levels of lighting. The stems and leaves growing in strong light will appear lavender, and the leaves will be thicker and lighter in color;

If grown in low light conditions, the sepals will be small and the leaves will be dark in color. White butterflies grow best in places with diffuse light, and 50% shading is most suitable. Variegated leaf varieties may not show obvious color spots when there is insufficient light.

White butterfly temperature

The white butterfly is not cold-resistant, and the growth temperature should be controlled between 22-30℃. The growth is relatively slow at 15℃, and the stems and leaves will stop growing at 10℃. In winter, frost damage may occur at around 5℃.

Fertilization of white butterflies

White butterfly needs to be fertilized once every 1-2 weeks during the growing period. Pay attention to the maintenance of the white butterfly. If placed indoors, it does not need to grow too fast and control the amount of fertilizer. The brightness of the leaves can be improved by appropriately reducing the use of nitrogen fertilizers, making the white markings on the leaves more obvious.

White butterfly pests

Common pests of white butterflies include leaf spot disease and gray mold. When pests occur, you can use 70% mancozeb wettable powder to spray for prevention and control. The pests of white butterflies include thrips and whiteflies. When pests occur, you can spray 1500 times of 40% omethoate solution to kill them.
