What fertilizer is good for growing water spinach?

Fertilizer for growing water spinach

Water spinach has a wide adaptability to soil, but it is more favorable to soil with sufficient water and fertilizer and strong water and fertilizer retention capacity. It has a short growth cycle, requires a large amount of fertilizer, and has strong fertilizer tolerance. It is necessary to apply dilute nitrogen fertilizer, but not excessively, otherwise it will easily grow too tall and not bloom.

Water spinach base fertilizer

When planting water spinach, you can apply sufficient base fertilizer, mainly soil fertilizer and manure, with a dosage of about 700 kilograms per 667 square meters. Reasonable fertilization can make it grow quickly, with strong stems and green leaves, and improve quality and yield.

Topdressing of water spinach

When applying top dressing to water spinach, mainly apply organic fertilizer. It needs to be diluted with water and then fertilized along with watering. Fertilize evenly and do not apply fertilizer in one place, as it will burn the plant.

Fertilizer for water spinach growing period

During the water spinach seedling stage, diluted human manure and urine can be used for fertilization, with a dosage of about 1,000 kilograms per mu. When the seedlings grow two pairs of true leaves, apply a mixture of compound fertilizer and urea.

Fertilizer for water spinach fruiting period

During the second harvest of water spinach, apply 5-8 kg of compound fertilizer for each harvest. When the height of the water spinach seedlings is 5-10 cm, the second top dressing can be carried out.

The correct way to fertilize water spinach

When water spinach is planted in dry land, it needs top dressing after seedlings, transplanting or cuttings take effect. Then, top dressing should be done every 3-5 days. Apply diluted manure and fertilizer and pour it between the rows. If it is cultivated in paddy fields, top dressing should mainly be nitrogen fertilizer such as decomposed manure. Top dressing should be done once after each harvest. For floating water cultivation, fertilizer and water management is basically not required.

Precautions for fertilizing water spinach

When fertilizing water spinach, you need to remove weeds in advance to prevent weeds and water spinach from competing for fertilizer. You also need to prevent diseases and pests in advance. When the water spinach seedlings are growing, you can spray some medicine appropriately to make the water spinach grow faster. However, you must also be careful not to cause pollution when fertilizing. Polluting the soil will also affect the growth of water spinach.
