2. Meaning: Lotus has the beautiful meaning of being noble and auspicious. It has been loved by people from ancient times to the present. It allows us to learn its pure qualities and implies good luck and success in everything.

2. What are the stories and legends about lotus?

According to legend, there was a maid named Yu Ji in the heavenly palace, who served the Queen Mother. One day, Yu Ji saw through the nine heavens and saw the men and women in pairs on the earth, living a life of one tilling the fields while the other weaving clothes. She was very envious, and so she became tempted to become a mortal. Accompanied by the daughter of the river god, she secretly went down to the mortal world without telling the Queen Mother, and lived a mortal life by the West Lake in Hangzhou.

The beautiful scenery of West Lake made Yu Ji linger, and she didn't want to go back to heaven at all. However, the fact that Yu Ji went to heaven one day instead of one year on earth was eventually known to Queen Mother Wang. So Queen Mother Wang used the lotus throne to knock Yu Ji to the bottom of the lake, buried her in the mud, and banished her to heaven forever. From then on, the heaven lost a maid named Yu Ji, and the world gained a lotus flower that grew out of the mud without being stained.
