What kind of plant is Milan and what does its flower look like?

1. Morphological characteristics

Milan is a shrub or small tree of the genus Milan of the Meliaceae family. It has many branches with rusty scales on them. The leaves are between 5-12 cm long, with 3-5 leaflets, most of which are opposite and have blunt tips. Its flowers are panicles with a certain fragrance. The flowers are very small, about the size of rice grains, yellow in color, and have 5 petals.

2. Growth habits

Milan is shade-tolerant to a certain extent during the seedling stage, but prefers light when it grows up. It grows well in warm and humid places and is afraid of cold climates. It is usually planted in loose, fertile acidic soil, and good drainage is particularly important. Be sure to keep warm in winter, as temperatures below 0℃ will cause the plants to freeze to death. It will not bloom if the temperature is below 16℃.

3. Breeding methods

1. Light: Milan needs sufficient light to grow. If the environment is too dark, it will easily cause the plant to grow too tall and will also affect flowering. Usually, you should place it in a sunny place so that it can receive sunlight throughout the day. It should be noted that in summer, appropriate shade should be provided to avoid exposure to strong sunlight.

2. Soil: Milan likes acidic sandy loam rich in humus. If you prepare it yourself, you usually need to use peat soil and sand, and mix the two in a ratio of 2:1. You can also make a substrate by mixing garden soil, compost soil and sand in a ratio of 2:2:1. In addition, put an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer at the bottom of the pot.

3. Watering: Milan generally grows in a humid environment, so it is necessary to water it in time, but not too much, otherwise it will affect the development of the plant. If the climate is too dry, the leaves of the plant will wilt, so in addition to watering, you should also spray water regularly, especially when the temperature is high, spray water on the leaves 1-2 times a day.

4. Fertilization: If Milan does not get enough nutrients during its growth process, the quality of the plant's flowering will decline and the flowering period will be shortened. In daily fertilization, Bofei needs to apply fertilizer frequently. Generally, it is recommended to supplement with decomposed cake fertilizer during the growing period, and it is sufficient to apply it once every 7-10 days. In addition, you can apply a little calcium phosphate before flowering to improve the quality of the flowers.
