How to remedy the yellowing and drying of Anthurium leaves?

Anthurium is a green plant that is very suitable for indoor cultivation. It can bloom, and its leaves grow large and have high ornamental value. So how to remedy the yellowing and drying of Anthurium leaves? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Repotting

The growth of Anthurium requires certain nutrient support. If the pot is not changed for a long time, the nutrients in the potting soil will be exhausted, the root system will be large, and the air permeability in the pot will be poor, causing root rot. This will cause the Anthurium to grow poorly, not grow new shoots, and not easily bloom. It is best to repot the anthurium every 1-2 years. The new pot should be about 20% larger than the old one to ensure that the anthurium has enough space to grow. Repotting should be done when the weather is cool in spring and autumn. You can remove 2/3 of the old soil, retain some soil, and cut off dead and rotten roots to strengthen the root system of the anthurium. After repotting, the anthurium will soon grow new buds and leaves.

2. Shading

When growing Anthurium indoors, place it in an area with bright light or a place with scattered light. It is best not to expose it to direct sunlight, especially in the summer when the light is strong and it is easy to get sunburned, causing the Anthurium's leaves to turn yellow. The leaves are easily burned and scorched, and the leaves become dull and lose their luster. Anthuriums placed on the balcony should be moved indoors in the summer to avoid excessive sunlight.

3. Root pruning

If the leaves of anthurium turn yellow, you need to dig down three or four centimeters along the edge of the flowerpot to see if there is water accumulation in the soil. If the soil is particularly moist, too much water will accumulate and cause root rot, which will cause the leaves to turn yellow and dry up. At this time, you need to trim the roots and repot. After the roots are trimmed, be sure to soak them in a solution of carbendazim to disinfect them.

4. Cut off

When the leaves of anthurium turn yellow and dry, cut off the yellow and dead leaves, place it in a relatively cool place, and do not rush to apply fertilizer. Increase the air humidity and apply some trace element fertilizers .

5. Ventilation

Anthurium needs to be placed in a ventilated environment for maintenance. If the environment is not ventilated, root rot is likely to occur, and it is also easy to cause various diseases, such as leaf spot disease, etc. Especially in summer, if the environment is hot and stuffy and not ventilated, it is easy for the leaves to turn yellow and the roots to rot, so don't ignore it.

6. Fill Light

When anthurium lacks light, it will turn yellow, but it is not that kind of sickly yellow. Instead, the leaves of the entire plant are a bit light yellow. Not only that, after a long period of lack of light, the branches and leaves of Anthurium will become more slender and the leaves will become thinner. Of course you need to supplement the light if there is a lack of light, but don't put the anthurium under direct light all at once. Do it step by step. First place it under diffuse light to adapt for a period of time, then move it to a sunny place indoors, and finally move it to a sunny place outdoors.

7. Dilution

Applying too much fertilizer to anthurium will cause root burn and yellow leaves. You can directly add a large amount of water to the potting soil to dilute the fertility in the soil, then drain the accumulated water and dry the potting soil. If you apply too much fertilizer and it is too late to dilute it with water, then just remove the anthurium from the pot and plant it in new soil.
