Breeding methods and precautions of woolly rhododendron

1. Potting soil

As for pots, it is generally more appropriate to use clay pots, and you should use those with holes in the ground, so that the ventilation effect will be better. Since the roots of azalea are relatively shallow and grow very slowly, you can choose some smaller pots so that there will be no waste of water when watering, which will also be more conducive to its growth. The soil in the pot should be acidic soil with a loose texture and good drainage. When filling the pot with soil, you should pay attention to using some coarse soil at the bottom and some finer soil on the top.

2. Watering tips

Rhododendrons generally prefer shady and moist places, not too dry. Give it more water when it's blooming. By winter, it has entered a dormant period, so it does not need a lot of water at this time. Generally, it is enough to water it every 4 to 5 days, and it is best to water it around noon on a sunny and warm day. The specific amount of watering depends on the dryness of the soil in the pot. If conditions permit, you can use rainwater, river water, or pond water. If it is tap water, it is best to store the water for a day or two before using it. During the growing season, it is generally necessary to water the plant once a week.

3. Fertilizer

Rhododendrons like fertilizer very much. Generally, they are watered with some rotted fish meal, broad beans, etc., which are then mixed with water. Never use human urine or feces. Before its flower buds come out, you can apply some thin fertilizer to it every 10 days or so, and apply it 2 to 3 times in total. This will help the old leaves turn green slowly and new roots sprout. After the flowers fall, in order to make it grow new branches and new leaves better, fertilize it 5 to 6 times between May and July. If it rains continuously, you can apply some dry fertilizer. Also, when its growth is about to stop, just fertilize it 1 or 2 more times.
