The legend of sunflower

Legend 1

There is a beautiful yet sad legend about sunflowers. It is said that in ancient Greek mythology, the goddess of the sea was named Clytie. She was once the lover of the sun god, but later the sun god fell in love with another woman, a Persian princess. Clytie became jealous and reported the love affair between the sun god and the princess to the princess's father, the king of Persia. The King of Persia was very angry and ordered his unfaithful daughter to be buried alive. When the sun god found out, he cut off all contact with the sea goddess. The infatuated sea goddess neither ate nor drank for several days, and just watched the sun god driving his sun chariot from the east to the west. She eventually became increasingly haggard and turned into a sunflower.

Legend II

There is also a Greek myth about the water nymph Clytie. One day, she saw Apollo, the sun god, hunting in the woods and fell in love with him. However, the sun god didn't even look at her and just left. Curly hoped that one day Apollo would talk to her, but she never met Apollo again. She could only look up at the sky every day, day after day, year after year, and every time the sun rose, she looked towards the sun. Later, the gods felt sorry for her and turned her into a sunflower, letting her face the sun forever and tell Apollo of her everlasting love.
