How to Plant American Mint Seeds

How to Plant American Mint Seeds

1. Seed treatment

Before planting seeds, we need to soak them in warm water for 24 hours. While soaking, we need to observe whether there are seeds floating on the water surface. If so, we need to remove them in time so that the seedlings grown from the seeds will be more neat.

If you encounter some larger seeds with harder shells when collecting seeds, you should use a knife to cut the seed coat before planting, so that the seeds can germinate as soon as possible.

2. Planting seeds

When sowing, we can do it by broadcasting or spot sowing. However, if you use the on-demand method, it will save more seeds. After planting the seeds, we need to cover the seeds with a layer of relatively clean substrate. The thickness should be moderate, not too thick.

After covering it, find some plastic wrap and cover the basin with it, and also poke a few small holes on it so that it can be both moisturizing and breathable. After all these are done, you can place them in a cool and ventilated place, and they will sprout in a short time.

3. Later maintenance

When the small sprouts grow out, we should slowly move it to a place with brighter light, but never put it directly in the sun to prevent it from getting sunburned. When the seedlings are high enough to touch the plastic wrap, we must remove the plastic wrap in time.

Then wait until the seedling grows two leaves, then you can expose it to direct sunlight, but only in the morning and evening to prevent it from growing too tall. At the same time, we should start adding fertilizer to it, basically once a week, and then when the seedlings grow more than 5 leaves, we can transplant them into some larger pots.
