Disease prevention and control methods

Heart rot

This disease generally causes the base of the plant's leaf tube to become eroded and weak, and also emits a foul odor. The roots will also rot and turn black, and may even cause lateral roots to stop growing, reducing the plant's ability to absorb water and fertilizer, causing it to grow slowly. It is usually caused by poor ventilation, too much salt in the water, or high temperature and humidity. Once it happens, you can use ethylenediaminetetrachloride or mancozeb solution to spray or water the leaves once a month, about three times will be enough.

Yellowing and withering of leaf tips

This disease is usually caused by alkaline water or too much calcium and sodium. It may also be caused by low humidity, excessive fertilization, etc. Since the beautiful-leaved light-calyx lotus has high temperature requirements and is very afraid of cold, it is best for us to keep the temperature above 5 degrees in winter. Otherwise, it may become sick due to the cold and dry out and scorch, eventually causing the death of the plant.

Pest control methods

Scale insects

This insect is the most common disease of the beautiful-leaved light-calyx water lily. It is relatively small in size and can cause freckles on the leaves and may also cause black mold. During the active period after the eggs hatch, malathion or dichlorvos can be used for prevention and control. After settling, it is necessary to use omethoate and other methods for prevention and control.

Red Spider

The bodies of red spiders are also relatively small. When it is dry, they will suck sap, causing light yellow spots to appear on the leaves. The prevention and control methods are to spray with dimethoate, phosmet, etc., or use miticides such as chlorpyrifos.
