There are many varieties of osmanthus, including Osmanthus fragrans and Osmanthus sinensis. In fact, the maintenance of osmanthus trees is not complicated. They are common flowers in the south. If grown at home, they can grow and bloom normally within one or two years with proper care. But if the method is wrong, the leaves of osmanthus may gradually turn yellow. Severe yellowing of the leaves may affect the growth of the plant and even cause the death of the plant. So what should we do if the leaves of the osmanthus tree turn yellow? 1. Reasonable watering Osmanthus is sensitive to water needs. Improper watering habits, such as too much or too little, may cause the leaves to turn yellow and wither. The principle of "watering as soon as the soil is dry" should be followed to keep the soil moist during the growing season. In summer, you can spray water on the leaves to increase the humidity. 2. Suitable soil Osmanthus prefers acidic soil. The yellowing of leaves may be related to the alkalinity of the soil, which may cause root rot. It is recommended to use leaf mold, garden soil, sand and peat soil, mixed in a ratio of 4:2:2:1 to ensure the suitability of the soil, and water appropriately to promote mixing. 3. Moderate light Although osmanthus loves light, prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight can cause the leaves to turn yellow. It should be guaranteed to receive 5 to 6 hours of light per day, and when the sun is strong, it should be placed in a cool place to avoid direct sunlight. 4. Suitable temperature Osmanthus grows best in a warm environment of 15℃ to 25℃. High temperatures, such as exceeding 30°C, will accelerate water evaporation and cause the leaves to turn yellow. In hot seasons, the dead leaves should be cut off and placed in a well-ventilated and cool environment. 5. Apply fertilizer at the right time If osmanthus lacks fertilizer , especially nitrogen fertilizer, for a long time, the leaves will turn yellow and the plant will grow poorly. It is recommended to apply a dilute organic fertilizer solution once a month, with an additional application of nitrogen fertilizer solution in the spring to promote growth. In addition, if the leaves of the osmanthus tree are burnt and yellow, or even fall off at the touch of a finger, this may be caused by drought. Although some people may water every day to keep the soil in the flowerpot moist, if the soil is prone to hardening, for example, if tap water is used for watering for a long time, the soil may become hardened due to alkalinization. In this case, even if you water it heavily, it will be difficult for the soil to fully absorb the water. To improve this situation, soil activators can be used regularly to help the soil regain its looseness and air permeability.
