How to transplant Brazilian wood and how to care for it after transplantation

1. Stop water and remove the basin

Before you transplant your rubber tree, you need to stop watering it for a while to allow its soil to dry out, which will help it to remove from the pot. Before removing the plant from the pot, you need to loosen the soil appropriately to make sure the pot wall and the plant are separated. Carefully hold the soil ball at the roots and slowly remove it from the pot. Do not pull too hard to avoid damaging the roots.

2. Root washing and pruning

After taking the rubber tree out of the flowerpot, you need to put it in a basin filled with water, wash off the old soil on it, and expose the roots completely. Check for rot, trim with sterilized scissors, and spray with carbendazim to prevent infection of the wound. Then place it in a semi-shaded place, and when the wound is dry, you can prepare it for potting.

3. Pot soil preparation

The rubber tree is suitable for growing in loose and fertile sandy loam. If the soil is too sticky, it will be detrimental to the breathing of the roots. Usually, leaf mold, river sand and garden soil are mixed in a ratio of 3:2:2. At the same time, a small amount of base fertilizer should be added to provide nutrients for the development of the plant. To ensure healthy growth, you can dry it in the sun for disinfection before potting it.

4. Potting and Maintenance

After preparing the new flower pot and potting soil, you can start potting. Place the dried plants upright in the pot and fill them with soil. When filling the soil, you can lift it up appropriately to make the roots fit better with the soil. After potting, you can water it a little, place it in a ventilated and semi-shaded place, and wait for the plant to pass the seedling acclimatization period.
