How to overwinter hydroponic plants in winter

How to overwinter hydroponic plants in winter

Place it in the sun as much as possible

The sunlight in winter is not very strong to begin with, and with a layer of glass for isolation, its intensity has been greatly weakened. So we can put them in a sunny place to grow, and abundant sunlight will make them grow better and also increase the temperature of the environment.

If the temperature is too low, you can take insulation measures

Most hydroponic plants can be kept above 10 degrees. If the temperature is relatively low at night, you can wrap them up in plastic bags and remove them during the day. This is the simplest and crudest way to keep warm, and it is also very effective. An insulated box would be better.

Notes on water changes and fertilization

In winter, you can change the water and apply fertilizer every 10 to 15 days. When changing the water, you can drop an appropriate amount of nutrient solution into the water, but you must use it according to the ratio of the nutrient solution and not too much, otherwise other diseases will occur. If the water is not changed for a long time in winter, it may cause the death of the plants in serious cases.

Every time you change the water, you can rinse the roots with clean water and clean the container at the same time. If there is root rot, you can also cut it off when changing the water.

When changing the water, it is best to put the water in the sun for a while in advance. First, it can increase the water temperature, and second, it can improve the water quality.

Spray water frequently to increase humidity

The environment in winter is very dry, so you need to spray the plants frequently, but the water temperature must be close to the indoor temperature. It is best to do it in the sun, and don't spray too much in the morning and evening.
