Can hanging bamboo plum be hydroponically cultivated?

Can it be raised in water?

Like calla lily, hanging bamboo plum can also be grown in water. If small plants of the hanging bamboo plum are grown in water, the rooting time can be shortened. The rooting rate can almost reach 100% if the seeds of the hanging bamboo plum are grown in water. If you want to change the soil-grown hanging bamboo plum to water-grown one, you first need to dig the mature hanging bamboo plum out of the soil, clean the soil at the roots, remove the aging roots or rotten parts, and remove the yellow diseased leaves, leaving the healthy parts for cuttings.

Then insert the processed branches of the hanging bamboo plum into the bottle prepared in advance, and fix it vertically to ensure that it will not tilt and fall. Then place the entire bottle in a relatively shaded place, avoiding direct sunlight. The optimal temperature is between 21 and 28 degrees.

Change the water every seven days to ensure the water is clean. At the same time, pay attention to cleaning the roots of the branches to prevent rot or bacterial infection that may lead to insect pests. Add nutrient solution when changing water to ensure energy supply.

Farming methods

Water changes

In the early stage of hydroponic cultivation of hanging bamboo plum, you only need to change the water every three days or so. Because the branches of hanging bamboo plum are fragile and easily broken, you need to be particularly careful when changing the water. To avoid breaking the branches, you do not need to hold the branches when changing the water. Just turn the vase upside down to drain the water, gently hold the inverted branches with your hands, and then replace them with clean water. After the branches have taken root, you only need to change the water once every ten days.

illumination

The hydroponic hanging bamboo must not be placed directly under the scorching sun, which will cause the branches to wilt quickly. It should be placed in a cool place with sufficient light to help the leaves grow more densely. If there is insufficient light, the branches and stems will grow thin and messy, and the leaves will not be full enough, affecting the appearance.

humidity

Hanging bamboo plum is relatively drought-resistant, but during the growing season, you need to spray water on the leaves as needed to keep them moist and maintain a good growth state.

temperature

When hydroponically cultivating the hanging bamboo plum, it is best to keep the temperature between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius. When the temperature is below 10 degrees in winter, you must do a good job of insulation.
