It is usually sown in spring from March to April every year.

How to germinate sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds need to be soaked in warm water at 25-30 degrees for 15-16 hours, or soaked in warm water at 50 degrees for 3-4 hours, then taken out and spread out, and piled up indoors at 15-20 degrees. After about 24 hours, part of the seed coat will open and sprouts will appear, and then they can be sown.

Sunflower seed germination

The sowing time of sunflower seeds depends on the frost-free period of the planting site. When the soil temperature at 5 cm is stable at 8-10 degrees, it is suitable for sowing. Use hole sowing, row sowing or precision seeder for spot sowing. It is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil, covered with 7 cm of soil. If planted in heavy clay soil, cover with 3-4 cm of soil.

The planting density should be determined according to the variety, soil, climate, fertilization, irrigation and other conditions. Generally, single row ridges are used with a row spacing of 65-70 cm and a plant spacing of 40 cm. About 2,500 seedlings are maintained per acre. In the later stage, the soil needs to be kept slightly moist.
