Differences between Catharanthus roseus and Impatiens

1. Leaf Difference

The leaves of Catharanthus roseus are membranous, obovate-oblong, 3 to 4 cm long and 1.5 to 2.5 cm wide. The tips of the leaves are rounded with a short tip. The base of the leaves is broadly cuneate or cuneate, and the base gradually narrows to a petiole.

The leaves of Impatiens are alternate, lanceolate, oblanceolate or narrowly elliptic, about 4 to 12 cm long, about 1.5 to 3 cm wide, with a cuneate base and sharp serrations on the edges.

2. Flower Differences

Catharanthus roseus has cymes that grow in axillary or terminal cymes, with 2 to 3 flowers. The calyx has 5 deep lobes, and the corolla is saucer-shaped. The colors include red, lavender, white, etc.

The flowers of Impatiens are solitary or clustered in 2 to 3 in the leaf axils. There is no peduncle. The flowers are white, purple or pink, and the petals are single or double.
