Palm bamboo | Aquatic plants suitable for living rooms

Morphological characteristics

Bamboo palm is an evergreen shrub. The stem is cylindrical, unbranched, and has nodes like bamboo, with brown coarse fibrous leaf sheaths, like palm. The leaves are clustered at the top of the stem, leathery, dark green and shiny, deeply palmately lobed, with 4 to 10 lobes. Dioecious.

Ecological habits

Palm bamboo likes a warm, humid and well-ventilated environment. The suitable temperature for growth is 20~30 degrees. It should be kept above 4 degrees in winter and can withstand short-term low temperatures around 0 degrees. The division of bamboo palm is generally carried out in combination with repotting. Choose plants with large and dense clumps, first lift the plants out of the pots, and then use a sharp knife to divide the clumps into several clumps. When dividing, try to cut the roots as little as possible, and the divided plants should maintain a certain shape. Then re-pot them, water them thoroughly, place them in a semi-shaded and humid place, and spray water on the leaves frequently. After they resume growth, they can be transferred to normal maintenance. Plant in autumn. After the seeds are mature, they are sown in pots immediately after being harvested. They are moved into the greenhouse in winter and sprout in the spring of the following year.
